Entry and Reset

Entry and Reset
A maintained passage
Miss Peregrine explains that an Ymbryne must periodically cross the loop’s entry point to keep it open and stable. The cairn provides access between the repeated day and the present.
Safety depends on upkeep
The system protects the children from the air raid, but it relies on the keeper’s continued power. A damaged or absent Ymbryne can put the entire refuge at risk.
The Aging Boundary

The Aging Boundary
A warning made visible
An apple from the loop rapidly withers after Jacob carries it into the present. Miss Peregrine explains that long-term residents who remain outside age toward death.
Freedom with consequences
The children can leave but cannot safely remain in the present for long. The rule complicates Jacob’s wish to bring Emma into his world and gives every crossing a cost.
The Loop Breaks

The Loop Breaks
Keeper incapacitated
Miss Peregrine returns from captivity unable to change back into human form. The loop does not reset at its expected time.
The children leave
The failed reset and damaged house make continued shelter impossible. The children choose an uncertain journey rather than wait for the loop to collapse around them.
